Dream Organizers
William Morris once said, "You should not have anything in your home that is not functional or beautiful." Well, what if having something that is functional is not enough? At Dream Organizers, you can have "both". This Special Needs child had a typical hospital bed that was required to help him manage his medical condition. While functional, it was definitely not beautiful.
Before Photo (Green Bedspread): In this picture, the hospital bed looks exactly as it arrives from the DME (Durable Medical Equipment) provider. You'll notice the standard brown "universal" headboard and footboard, which meant the headboard and footboard were the same height, barely above the mattress. While functional, it was certainly not beautiful.
Interim Photos: Shortly thereafter, I changed the bed, painted it black (see photo #2), added a faux headboard made from a bamboo blind, painted it black (see photo #3)and made it look like just another bed. The bed is still functional-it can be raised and lowered and the head and foot of the bed can still be raised and lowered making it functional. In addition, I purchased a standard black nightstand, removed the hardware and added new shiny chrome hardware to match the bed railings.
After Photos: The last two photos are the hospital bed as the bed appears today (note the side railing in the photo). I had a "slip on" headboard and footboard that was made for this bed, then I added a custom lampshade and accessories to complete the look.
Now it looks more beautiful and more importantly, like a "real" bed. Your home is not a hospital, why not have it look like a home.
